Fire in Fountain considered suspicious

Firefighters contained a wildfire west of Fountain Creek near mile marker 130 on Monday.

The Fountain Fire Department tells our KRDO NewsChannel 13 crew at the scene that the fire burned about two acres. Around 2:00 p.m., the fire was fully contained.

Investigators say this fire is considered very suspicious. They suspect arson because there is nothing in the area that could have sparked a fire.

The fire department advises that people may continue to see smoke for a few more hours as crews clean up the fire.

Fountain Fire Department, Hanover Fire Department, Fort Carson, and El Paso Wildland and Brush all responded to help battle the flames.

No structures were threatened by the fire.
