Chelton Road At Galley Road Reopened After Rollover Crash

A vehicle parked in a driveway and people attending a yard sale barely avoided being hit by a Jeep that overturned in a crash Friday on eastbound Chelton Road near the Galley Road intersection in east Colorado Springs.

The crash, involving two vehicles and five people, forced police to close Chelton Road temporarily, but officers reopened the road about 11:30 a.m.

Police said the Jeep, carrying a driver and three passengers, was traveling north on Chelton Road when it ran a red light and collided with a Toyota SUV. A female passenger in the Jeep received minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for precautionary treatment. Another passenger received cuts and bruises.

Debris was scattered across the intersection as passers-by looked at the Jeep on its side. The impact of the crash tore its roof off.
