Pueblo West Neighborhood On Alert

Some Pueblo West residents are on high alert this weekend after one of their neighbors was involved in a home invasion.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred on East Dwight Drive Thursday night. “The victim told deputies an unknown male wearing a black hoodie, dark jeans and a blue and white bandana over his mouth knocked on her door and when she opened the door the male pushed his way into the residence,” wrote Laurie Kilpatrick, Public Information Officer.

Kilpatrick said the man hit the woman with what is believed to be a silver handgun and then made demands. She said he took a set of house and car keys and a black fanny pack before fleeing the scene. Deputies said a K-9 unit attempted to track down the suspect but was unsuccessful.

Nearby neighbors Carl and Shelley Ryan said they are both on alert.

“The neighborhood is no longer safe,” said Shelley. Ryan also told KRDO News Channel 13, they also took additional steps to protect themselves and their two children by adding an additional deadbolt on a back door to their home.

Luckily the victim is shaken but doing alright.
