Storm leaves slick roads in Woodland Park

The snow is making it look more like winter than spring in the city above the clouds.

Slushy and snow-packed roads made for a difficult commute through Woodland Park on Thursday.

“The higher you go, you get a little more snow, so it’s just sloppy right now,” Debra Yacko said. “You have to leave a lot of space and take it easy. You do hit some pockets of standing water, so don’t speed,” she said.

The slush created poor visibility for drivers.

“There is a lot of snow on the roads,” Margot Gray said. “There were some people who passed and they were splashing up a lot of slush. It was just kind of messy,” she said.

Teller County residents said they are used to snow this time of year, and they said the area needs precipitation.

“I’m ready for spring, but I know that we need this,” Gray said. “We need to keep the moisture and avoid the fires.”
