Two stolen vehicles and several license plates recovered in Pueblo

PUEBLO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Pueblo Police Department (PPD) announced that it recovered two stolen vehicles and more than ten stolen or swapped license plates on Tuesday morning.

PPD says around 1:04 a.m. on Sept. 22, officers responded to the area of East 13th Street and North Fountain Avenue, where they found an unoccupied gray Kia Sorento that had been reported stolen. Inside the Kia, police say they found several license plates, including multiple that were reported stolen.

During the investigation, police say they received a report that another Kia Sorento had been stolen from a parking garage in the 1600 block of Court Street.

Police located the stolen vehicle near East 4th Street and North Glendale Avenue, but when they tried to stop it, PPD said it drove away at high speed. According to law enforcement, they chose not to pursue the vehicle because of safety concerns. PPD confirms the Kia has yet to be found.

In the parking garage, police say they found a white Kia Optima with its rear license plate mounted upside down and discovered that it had been reported stolen. Law enforcement says the license plate belonged to a driver in Pueblo West and was later returned.

Police confirm that the returned license plate belonged to the first Kia stolen.
