Woman identified in fatal incident in Colorado Springs over the weekend
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Colorado Springs Police Department is investigating a fatal incident Friday that left one woman dead and one man seriously injured.
Just after 10 p.m. Friday, police responded to reports of a disturbance near the intersection of Delta Drive and Hancock Expressway. Upon arrival, officers found a deceased woman on the road and an adult man seriously injured. The man is not a suspect in the incident, according to detectives.
The El Paso County Coroner's Office identified the fatal victim as 37-year-old Chasta Rogers of Colorado Springs. The coroner has not released the official cause of death, but police are investigating this case as a homicide.
CSPD says it has identified a possible witness to the disturbance. The possible witness would have been at the 7-11 located at 2350 Hancock Expressway on Friday around 10 p.m. A photo of the possible witness is below.
Detectives also released photos of a vehicle of interest in this homicide case. The vehicle appears to be a silver or gray Toyota Corolla.
Rogers' death is the 28th homicide investigation this year in Colorado Springs. At the same time in 2019, CSPD had investigated 17 homicides.
A GoFundMe page was created by the family of Rogers to help with funeral expenses.
