Air Force men’s hoops ready for Mountain West tournament
"Why not us?" Air Force guard Sim Tomes said on Monday.
"[I'm] extremely confident," Tomes continued. "We have all the abilities, we have all the talent in the world. We are really close group. This is what we live for. This is why we play basketball."
That's the mindset the Falcons have entering the Mountain West tournament. Despite losing ten of their last twelve games, Air Force believes they can win the Mountain West tournament and secure a spot in the NCAA tournament.
"You never know," says forward Lavelle Scottie, who was named third-team All-Mountain West on Monday. "You never know who can beat who. Everybody has talent, and maybe someone's hitting on a certain night. Not a lot of people get to compete at this time of year. Not a lot of people get to keep competing. I'm definitely excited to make something happen to where we can keep competing in the postseason."
Air Force will face Fresno State in round 1 on Wednesday.
