ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- The Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) says that a member of animal services rescued a baby raccoon from a semi-truck's engine compartment.

According to the sheriff's office, animal services were called out on the morning of July 15 for the rescue.

The sheriff's office says the raccoon was sleeping at the time, and "wasn't exactly happy about being woken up." However, the raccoon finally grabbed onto a pole and was lifted out safely.

"We're happy to report the raccoon was returned to its natural habitat," said the sheriff's office.

According to ACSO, they assumed control over Animal Services on June 21, and since then, officers have responded to more than 100 animal control incidents.
