Abandoned domestic ducks rescued in Colorado Springs

HSPPR

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) - Earlier this month, Animal Law Enforcement (ALE) was called out to investigate the abandonment of three ducks.

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region (HSPPR) says that Officer Allen and ALE Administrative Manager Sam were dispatched, and when they arrived at the lake, they identified three domestic ducks amongst at least 50 wild Canadian geese.

Successfully capturing three domestic ducks within a gaggle of geese was not as easy as it seemed. Officer Allen and Sam needed to persuade these ducks to befriend them, and the best way they knew how was through food.

Officer Allen gave them a cat treat peace offering, and once they were distracted by the yummy olive branch, Sam safely scooped the ducks and kenneled them in the ALE truck.

Thanks to Officer Allen and Sam, Joe, Kevin, and Nick were saved from a potentially dangerous situation.

HSPPR says that Sam couldn't say goodbye to this talented trio and adopted them into her family!

HSPPR is reminding people that feathered friends are pets and deserve the same care and commitment as our furry ones!
