Late spring snow closes La Veta Pass for few hours Tuesday morning
WALSENBURG, Colo. (KRDO) -- It might be the middle of May, but that's not stopping parts of Colorado from enjoying some snow.
La Veta Pass opened back up Tuesday morning after snowy conditions forced CDOT to close the roadway.
CDOT closed 36 miles of Highway 160, between Highway 12 in Huerfano County and Fort Garland in Costilla County, for two hours.
Multiple cars slid off the road while dealing with ice and whiteout conditions.
CDOT advises drivers making their way through La Veta Pass to plan extra time and be prepared for poor road conditions.
