Crews battling wildfire along CR 250, on Missionary Ridge

DURANGO, Colo. (KRDO) -- Crews began battling a wildfire along CR 250 Friday evening.
Just after 8 p.m., Durango Fire Protection District announced a wildfire was on the east side of the Las Animas Valley, up on Missionary Ridge.
According to DFPD, the wildfire is threatening structures and the forest.

At 9:35 p.m., Durango Fire Protection District said the head of the fire had been knocked down. Crews plan on working into the night.

Smoke is expected to settle in the Las Animas Valley overnight.
No word on the cause or the size of the fire.
In 2002, that area experienced the Missionary Ridge Fire. 9News reports the fire reached 71,739 acres. One firefighter died in that wildfire.
