Victim identified in Knob Hill homicide
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police have identified the victim of a suspicious death we first reported earlier this week.
The victim is 20-year-old Xavier Padilla of Colorado Springs, according to a release Wednesday from the Colorado Springs Police Department.
Police found Padilla in the 2300 block of east Monument Street Sunday morning in the Knob Hill area. He was initially transported with serious injuries to a local hospital, but he later died.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation.
Police say this is the city's 21st homicide investigation this year.

Colorado Springs police are investigating the death of a man who died of serious injuries after being found in the Knob Hill neighborhood Sunday morning.
Around 6:43 a.m. CSPD says they received a report of a man on the ground in the 2300 block of E. Monument Street.
At the scene, officers found an adult male with serious injuries, according to a release from the department. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Detectives with CSPD's Homicide/Assault Unit responded to the scene and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
