05/18/19 Forecast Discussion

Tonight: Most of the rain showers and thunderstorms have already come to an end for SE Colorado. Gradual clearing overnight with temperatures reaching into the mid 30’s. Frost advisories in effect for all of NE Colorado as temperatures could dip below freezing, which would be harmful to sensitive plants.

Sunday: Increasing clouds throughout the day with high temperatures to the low 60’s for Colorado Springs. By late morning the winds will turn breezy, gusts to 35mph. Another afternoon with scattered showers and thunderstorms and the severity of these storms once again looks weak.

Extended: On and off showers for the majority of the day Monday. Mostly cloudy skies will keep high temperatures well below average for this time in May. By early afternoon isolated thunderstorms will begin to develop across the I-25 corridor. Monday evening, below freezing temperatures in the higher elevations, will be conducive for precipitation to change over to snowfall. Snow accumulation numbers are still uncertain, but it wouldn’t surprise me if Woodland park received a few inches by Tuesday morning. Colorado Springs will most likely see no more than a dusting.
