The day after Christmas, one of the busiest shopping days of the year

Did you know that 2/3 of Americans return Christmas gifts? That makes for 90 billion dollars in returned gifts making the day after Christmas one of the busiest shopping days of the year.

Bjorn Lindholm, Target Store Director said, “On a typical day around this time of year it will be over 1,500 transactions. “

last year, the target on North Academy did about 400 returns, Lindholm expects about the same this year.

“Not as busy as pre-holiday but it is still a pretty busy shopping day for us,” said Lindholm.

And it’s not just returns that have stores busy

“We have lots of clearance deals throughout our clothing section and obviously in our holiday section. Many things 50 percent off in other cases more,” said Lindholm.

One shopper, Tinya Duffey said that the day after Christmas is the best day to shop.

“Grandma and grandpa got the kids 100 dollar bills, they are over the moon and ready to spend it. I had to return my husbands Chewbacca onesie because it was too small.”

So how do you go about returning a gift?

lindholm said, “The easiest way to return something to target is with a receipt so that’s the best way so if you could bring a receipt in or the card you used to pay for the item.”

And if you don’t have a receipt at Target, it’s not a problem.

“If it is still a target product then they can return it here or exchange it depending on the item and the best thing to do would be to bring a valid id with them,” Lindholm continued.

if not trying to go out in a crowd, try waiting a couple days to make your returns.
