Trees for Troops celebrates 14 years

Fort Carson soldiers received some cheer just in time for the holidays.

Four-hundred real Christmas trees were delivered to military families as part of the “Trees for Troops” program and Fort Carson was on that list.

The tree lot, however, was empty, as temperatures fell below freezing at the mountain post.

Volunteer Bre Garcia said, “It’s really nice to give this to other military spouses and other military spouses whose husbands may be deployed. Some of them may just need some extra help at Christmas time.”

This is the 14th year of Trees for Troops, with over 208,000 trees donated.
