CDOT increases hourly pay, tries to attract more drivers
The Colorado Department of Transportation said it needs more than 100 snowplow drivers and highway maintenance workers for the upcoming winter season.
CDOT reports, there’s a shortage of drivers who have a commercial driver’s license and it’s impacting the number of CDOT plow drivers on the roads.
CDOT is now offering incentives to get new employees in the door.
Pay has increased from $19 an hour to $22 an hour. Retired maintenance workers will be able to return and drive plows for $25 an hour or their hourly rate if it was higher when they retired.
