Mother arrested after 15-month-old dies in Fountain

Fountain police say a woman has been arrested after her 15-month-old daughter was found dead in early August.

On Aug. 4, Fountain police officers went to a house on Crest Drive and found the child unresponsive and not breathing. They tried to resuscitate the baby until she was taken to the hospital by a Fountain Fire Department crew.

According to a news release issued Monday, the girl was pronounced dead, and police began investigating with the help of multiple agencies including ATF in El Paso, Texas.

Several weeks later on Aug. 27, 23-year-old Lauren Sierra was taken into custody for child abuse resulting in death. It’s not clear where she was arrested.

The exact cause of the baby’s death hasn’t been released.
