Pikes Peak Red Cross is in Raleigh ahead of Florence

The American Red Cross Pikes Peak chapter, is in Raleigh, NC right now. They tell us they will remain there until everyone has been helped who needs it.

“We’ve got our shelters open,” said Bill Fortune with the Pikes Peak Red Cross. “I believe we have almost 50 shelters open. We’ve got about 3-thousand people in those shelters, most of them in South Carolina and in the Southeast part of North Carolina, down by the ocean shore.”

Fortune tells us 35 volunteers have come from Colorado to help out, joining their 300 person team from across the country.

Locally, Bonfils is asking for blood donations in preparation for the storm. To donate, you can visit the Bonfils in Colorado Springs at 3670 Austin bluffs Parkway, or call to schedule an appointment at 303-363-2300.
