AMR sends Colorado crews to help as Hurricane Florence approaches landfall

American Medical Response has sent crews to help as Hurricane Florence prepares to make landfall.

The company has a national contract with FEMA and put out a call to local crews to send personnel to the east coast.

The Colorado Springs branch of the ambulance service provider said four crew members volunteered to go help with aid.

A supervisor, a paramedic and two EMTs are headed to help and are expected to be gone for at least two weeks where they’ll be helping with a variety of needs.

“They’ll be a lot of rescue stuff we have to do, we’ll provide ambulance transports, we’ll provide wheelchair transports,” AMR Operations Supervisor, Jon Webb said.

A total of 13 people from AMR were sent from Colorado to help on the east coast.

In order to make up for the four crew members gone to help with Hurricane Florence, other paramedics and EMTs from the branch are covering the shifts in their absence, to ensure crews will be available to help cover ambulance needs in the city and county.
