Strong to severe storms possible today – 8/17/18

TODAY: We will start our day with a mix of clouds and sunshine in southern Colorado. A few places over the eastern plains will see some fog this morning. Things stay dry until around 11am when showers and storms start to pop up over the mountains. These become more widespread through the afternoon and into the evening and push off to the east. Some of those storms could produce hail, gusty winds and areas of heavy rain. Highs today will be in the in 70s and 80s, with some 60s in select mountain cities.

TONIGHT: Showers and storms start to wind down and we are left with a partly to mostly cloudy sky. Lows cool to the 50s and 60s.

EXTENDED: Tomorrow brings better chances for strong to severe storms, especially east of I-25. Hail and damaging winds will be the primary concerns through the afternoon and evening. Sunday looks dry with the exception of a mountain shower or storm. We increase the shower and storm chances starting next Monday with warmer highs by the mid-week.
