Marty’s Sunday Morning Forecast – Few Storms Possible – 7/1/18

Today: Partly cloudy and breezy with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible over and near the mountains. The air shouldn’t warm too much as compared to yesterday with high temperatures again in the 70s and 80s around the Pikes Peak Region, middle to upper 80s along the Arkansas River, mainly 70s for the mountains. Storms today aren’t likely to be severe, but lightning, gusty wind, brief downpours and small hail could accompany any storms that do manage to develop.

Tonight: Any showers and thunderstorms that have developed will end, then partly cloudy. Not quite as cool with low temperatures in the 50s and 60s for the plains, mainly 40s over the mountains.

Extended: Starting Monday the air will dry out and start warming up again, and most of next week looks very warm with only slight chances for spotty thunderstorms, mainly over and near the mountains. Most storms next week probably won’t be great rain producers, but brief downpours, gusty wind and frequent lightning could accompany storms at times. Independence Day could feature spotty storms over and near the mountains, but Thursday will probably be the most active day for thunderstorms, and our best chance for some heavier rain this week. Fire weather doesn’t look to be as great a threat this week, and it won’t be as hot as last week, so at least we have some good news there.
