Pueblo named 5th worst city in US for property crimes
It’s not a designation the Steel City would prefer to have, but according to FBI statistics, Pueblo has the fifth most property crime per capita in the U.S.
Reviews.org compiled a list of the top 10 cities with the most and least property crimes per 1,000 people based on crime data reported to the FBI from 2016. Pueblo had 57.33 property crimes per 1,000 people, ranking it right above Tucson and Albuquerque in the list.
The FBI defined property crimes as burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle thefts. The rankings also don’t include any cities with fewer than 100,000 people.
But there may be some good news: the FBI has a preliminary report for the first six months of 2017, and those numbers show a decrease in property crimes.
Salt Lake City topped the list of property crimes with 75.4 per 1,000 residents.
If you want to live someplace with few thefts, look at Lakewood Township in New Jersey or Yonkers, New York. No Colorado cities made the top 10 list for least property crimes.
