Eyewitness says plane was heading South before crashing in Colorado Springs

A small aircraft has crash landed in Colorado Springs Sunday afternoon. It happened in the area of Tutt and Constitution. Three passengers were on board the Cessna 210 when it crashed. One person was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. A witness says the plane was facing South when it started to glide toward the ground. Korey Butler who stopped at a red light on Tutt and Constitution explains, “I saw the plane flying in real slow and coming down. The tail hit the fence line which brought it’s propellors into the bridge railing and then the plane flipped up, spinned around and then came down on its wheels into the ditch.” 25 gallons of fuel leaked from the aircraft. The intersection of Tutt and Constitution will be closed for several hours. Lt. Howard Black with the Colorado Springs Police Department said, “it’s something that is quite unique but it does happen.” On this busy intersection, Butler said it could have been much worse, “it’s just thankful that there was no traffic, nothing in the way, no buildings. They did make it into an area that was safe for them.” The plane is registered to Fly Elite Aviation out of Longmont, Colorado. KRDO called the company, which confirms it is their plane, but had no further comment. It’s still unclear where the people on board were from or where they were flying to. The FAA is taking over the investigation.
