Icy, slick, roads create chaotic morning commute

Icy, slick, roads made for a messy morning commute Monday.

“Hopefully it will be getting warmer the entire time that we’re driving,” said Carrie Chavez.

Chavez and her family were on their way to back home to New Mexico. They had to stop to scrape ice that froze over on their windows.

“It’s everywhere,” Chavez said. “We can’t see anything.”

Heavy traffic built up past Castle Pines Parkway that created massive slow downs.

“I saw a lot of cars trying to go faster but I mean you’re gonna get stuck on the ice,” said Cinthia Rodriquez.

Three accidents just before Castle Rock happened just within a few miles of each other.

“I’ve never seen it so slippery,” said Chavez.

If you’re heading home from Douglas County, take it slow. Even though #DougCo is off accident alert status, roads are still slippery.
