Authorities: Man arrested after growing dozens of marijuana plants in plain sight in Pueblo County

A man is facing felony charges after he’s accused of growing marijuana plants in plain sight in Pueblo County.

A tip caller alerted authorities Friday afternoon about what appeared to be dozens of marijuana plants growing on 25th Lane.

Detectives responded to the scene where 60-year-old Brian Shives told them he was growing the marijuana as a caregiver, but he wasn’t able to provide paperwork, the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives found more than 85 plants on the property, which is more than the legal allowance.

The sheriff’s office said it confiscated the majority of the plants and also discovered evidence of a butane hash oil operation.

Shives will be charged with cultivating marijuana and manufacturing hash oil, which are both felonies.
