Officer in serious but stable condition after crash

An officer involved accident happened early Saturday morning leaving a Colorado Spring police officer in serious but stable condition. Police say, the officer was driving a motorcycle in Vice President Mike Pence’s motorcade, when he crashed.

Colorado Springs police identified the officer as eight year veteran of the force Andrew Holland.

The accident happened off of MLK and Union Avenue. Lieutenant Howard Black told KRDO, at about 7:40 a.m. on the Martin Luther King bypass, Pence’s motorcade was headed eastbound to the Peterson Air Force Base.

That’s when Holland, who was involved in the motorcade, lost control. Holland was in critical condition at that time but has since been upgraded to serious but stable condition.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but Lt. Black is saying it is purely accidental.
