Recovered Chihuahuas arrive at Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region received some furry friends in need on Wednesday.

A group of Chihuahuas arrived at the Humane Society after being transferred from the Larimer Humane Society.

The six dogs were a part of a bigger group of 63 Chihuahuas that were rescued from a home in Fort Collins that was breeding illegally.

With the help of the PPHS Transfer Program, these dogs made the trip safely.

“With this transfer program, we are able to take pets from less serviced areas and pets at risk of euthanasia. With this specific trip, we were helping our friends in Larimer because they took in quite a few Chihuahuas at once,” said Gretchen Pressley, community relations manager for PPHS.

The dogs showed up to the society in good health, but some did show signs of distress.
