Two dead in Weld County crash

Authorities say two people have died after a pickup truck driving in the wrong direction on a highway slammed into another vehicle head-on in Weld County.

The Denver Post reports (http://dpo.st/2a6HoHO ) that the names of the victims in Saturday night’s crash have not yet been released.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Tim Sutherland says the pickup truck was traveling south in the northbound lane of U.S. Highway 85 when it struck a sedan near Lucerne.

Both drivers were killed in the collision.

Authorities are still investigating but say they suspect alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
