Posada picnic offers free services, honors homeless who have died

Hundreds of people gathered at Grome Park Saturday for the annual Posada Summer Picnic.

Open and free to anyone, patrons had the chance to enjoy several free services, including: food, books, health screenings and even free haircuts.

Posada also had a memorial service to honor the homeless who died throughout the last year.

“It is a very healing process. Because when people are experiencing homelessness, they come to Posada, we are a homeless service agency. They become apart of our family, we respect them, we dignify them and we make sure we do it with dignity and respect,” said Latanya Yarborough, case manager for Posada.

The memorial service included a performance by a theater group, song and reflection.
