Colorado College working to end violence on college campuses nationwide

A summit called “Jana’s Campaign” is currently being held at Colorado College, and it aims to reduce violence on college campuses nationwide.

Experts from all over the U.S. are attending the event, hoping to focus on teaching students and staff how to best prevent and respond to sexual assaults, violence and stalking.

The summit comes after the sexual assault case at Stanford University became public. A former student and athlete was sentenced to six months in jail after being found guilty of three sexual assault counts.

Organizers with Jana’s Campaign told KRDO that they plan on using what is left of the conference to come up with the best ways to combat this increasing problem.

“Jana’s Campaign is committed to helping make the world a safer place. So we’re really going to work together over the course of the next two days to learn best practices of what folks are doing on their own campuses,” said Kelley Parker, executive director of Jana’s Campaign.

The event will be going on at Colorado College until Thursday afternoon.
