Heavy snow arrives in Colorado Springs, Pueblo police on cold reporting

A spring storm is bringing rain and snow to Colorado this morning.

Roads region-wide are wet, and in some cases, slushy. Parking lots and lightly used roads are becoming snow covered.

In Teller County, The Colorado Department of Transportation has ordered a traction law for Highway 67 between Cripple Creek and Divide. A traction law means that snow tires, chains or four-wheel drive are required.

Chains are required on Highway 50 over Monarch Pass.

The Pueblo Police Department is on accident alert.

Edison 54JT and Miami-Yoder JT-60 school districts are closed. Calhan RJ1 will dismiss students at 10 a.m.

The Trinidad area was hit especially hard with as much as 6″ of snow.

San Isabel Electric says a power outage is affecting 1,500 customers in Trinidad, Gardner, Aguilar and Rye.

Visibility and hydroplaning will continue to be concerns as the storm moves through today.
