El Paso County residents dig out after snow storm

Residents and drivers in El Paso County dug their cars out of ditches and cleared off their driveways on Sunday after Saturday’s snowstorm.

Abandoned cars were scattered along the shoulder on Woodman Road. Drivers were forced to leave them after getting stuck trying to drive during whiteout conditions on the road on Saturday.

Kacy Gramckow said she has been driving in the county for 16 years and Saturday’s conditions were the scariest she had ever driven through. She got stuck and an El Paso County plow rescued her.

“It was scary. I was just thinking, praying for us and just called my husband and said I’m not sure when I’ll be home,” said Gramckow.

In Monument, Reginald Cox spent his evening clearing snow from his driveway.

“They did a good job on the main roads, but when you’re out here in the community, you have to fend for yourself so we can get out and go to work tomorrow,” said Cox.

The main roads in the county are clear. However, some side roads were still covered with several inches of snow as of Sunday evening.
