Tuition increase for some full-day kindergarten classes

Parents who want to send their children to full-day kindergarten in the Poudre School District will have to shell out $2,450 for tuition, a $200 increase to cover rising costs because the state only funds schools for half-day programs.

Assistant superintendent Todd Lambert says the tuition increase is a last resort to challenges facing full-day kindergarten. Those challenges include supplies, staffing and support.

Lambert says it’s a lot more money for some families.

According to the Fort Collins Coloradoanabout 70 percent of the families with children in kindergarten want full-day kindergarten, which he said is offered in all district schools.
