Colorado Springs Polar Plunge

Teams from across Southern Colorado took a frigid dip into Lake Prospect Saturday. It was all in an effort to raise money for the Special Olympics.

Dozens of souls braved the cool waters at Memorial Park, some dressed in festive costumes.

In all, about 200 participants took the plunge, with thousands more coming out to watch.

Participants we spoke to said not to be fooled by Saturday’s warm temps and bright sunshine; the water was icy!

It was all for a good cause, however; It’s estimated that their efforts raised more than $10,000 for the athletes of the Special Olympics.
