Homeless get special Secret Santa gifts in Colorado Springs

Colorado Springs’ homeless received free money from a special Secret Santa this Christmas.

The man is making it his mission to spread Christmas cheer, and he’s 102 years old.

He doesn’t want to give his name, but says giving to others comes second nature because he’s been in need himself.

That’s why, for the past several years, he’s given out $10 bills every Christmas to those in need.

“About 4 years ago after my wife died, I was trying to figure out what to do on Christmas morning,” said the man.

He says he then went on a drive that led him to the RJ Montgomery Center.

“I saw some homeless people with no place to go, no family, no celebration, and I said, ‘I want to do what I can to cheer up their Christmas Day,'” he added.

Since then, the tradition has been making spirits bright, one person and family at a time by handing out the free money.

“It makes me feel real good that someone is willing to do that, because in today’s society it seems like people just want to hold on to their money, not help the people who really need help ,” said Terry Key.

Each member of Key’s family received a $10 bill from the man.

In total, the Secret Santa handed out more than $1,000.
