also this afternoon.. family and friends are remebering the victims from the mass shooting in southern california. we’re hearing from their loved ones. good afternoon thank you for joing us for krdo newschannel 13 at four. i’m james jarman in for rob. and i’m heather skold in for rana.. and.. we are continuing our coverage of the funeral for officer garrett swasey.. you’re taking a live look at the processional to evergreen cemetery. this is where officer garrett swasey will be laid to rest. and here’s another prospective of the procession. we have had our crews out covering the somber service service paying tribute to officer garrett swasey. we have michelle san miguel near evergreen cemetery covering the procession– that’s getting ready to come her way. but let’s start with rana novini live wher thousands gathered at new life church to honor officer swasey’s death by celebrating his life she joins us live with words from swasey’s family. we’re seeing just how big his family is. from his wife and two children, to parents and relatives and the hundreds of law enforcement officers who are here to pay their respects. i’ve seen law enforcement here from around the state, even new york and illinois. each speaker shared personal memories of officer swasey — as a champion figure skater, father and husband and police officer. the resounding message from those who spoke is he put his life on the line not because he had to, but because it was his life’s mission to keep our community safe. uccs has a scholarship fund set up in swasey’s honor. we heard from the uccs police chief and chancellor… both incredi both incredibly chief and chancellor… both incredibly emotional when speaking about swasey’s character… showing you how close knit of a community they are. uccs has a scholarship fund set up in swasey’s honor. ?7
