Police: Man punches officer in face
Police say a man in Colorado Springs punched an officer in the face after he was detained for driving under the influence early Saturday morning.
Officers say Michael Hudspeth, 27, had left the scene of an accident on North Academy around 3 a.m. Officers caught up with Hudspeth and arrested him for DUI.
Officers say Hudspeth became unresponsive while he was in the back of the police car. Police say medical crews then arrived and eventually woke him up. Officers say Hudspeth abruptly began swinging his arms, punched an officer in the face, and began fighting with police.
Hudspeth was taken to the hospital and is now charged with second-degree assault on a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, driving under the influence of alcohol, and careless driving.
