Sexually violent predator moves into southeast Springs neighborhood

The Colorado Springs Police Department is notifying people who live in a southeast side neighborhood about a sexually violent predator who has moved in.

Shelwyn Jerome Williams, 52, is registered as homeless in the area of Murray Blvd. and Platte Ave.

The police department says Williams was convicted of attempted second degree sexual assault in El Paso County in 2000.

The police department is required by law to notify the community whenever a sexually violent predator moves to a new location in the city.

There are 15 sexually violent predators registered as living in Colorado Springs.
