Pueblo County dispatchers honored

Emergency crews usually get the glory for saving lives or solving crimes, but this week belongs to the people behind-the-scenes.

This week is National Telecommunications Week.

Pueblo County honored the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office dispatchers.

Communications Manager Lisa Shorter said the dispatchers not only take calls, but are trained to help people medically over the phone.

“They can actually deliver babies, help a diabetic, they can help someone through CPR. There are some amazing things they can do on the medical side,” she said.

Shorter also said the sheriff’s office dispatchers handle more than 100 calls of service per day.
