Ft. Carson soldier arrested, accused of choking woman

A Fort Carson soldier was arrested after police say he assaulted a woman at a Colorado Springs hotel.

The investigation began Nov. 28 after an employee called police about an assault at a hotel in the 4300 block of Sinton Rd. Police say a 21-year-old woman had posted an escort advertisement online and agreed to meet a man, who identified himself as “Zeeke,” for a “quick meet” in exchange for money. Police say during the “meet,” the man became agitated and choke the woman until she passed out.

After further investigation, a felony arrest warrant was issued for 22-year-old Nilark Jamall Bates. He was taken into custody on Thursday, Dec. 18.

Jail records show Bates is an active-duty soldier at Fort Carson. He’s being held on $50,000 bond.
