‘North Side Mafia’ members sentenced

Colorado Springs Police say three men have been sentenced for their roles in a string of Springs area burglaries.

The men said they belong to a group called the North Side Mafia. They were linked to break ins on the north and west sides of Colorado Springs and in unincorporated El Paso County.

Gino Rael, 21, was sentenced to two years in prison with three years of mandatory parole.

Carlitos Juvera-Rael, 19, was sentenced to 48 months of probation and ordered to pay $41,476.49 in restitution.

Nathaniel Gonzales, 21, received the toughest sentence. He was ordered to spend four years in prison with five years of mandatory parole. Gonzales was also ordered to pay $43,258.16 in restitution.

Police said the trio was sentenced for their part in “extensive crimes” that included burglary, providing false information to a pawn broker and theft.
