Investigators: Man wore nametag while robbing bank

Authorities say a man accused of robbing a Denver bank was wearing a nametag identifying himself when he approached tellers and demanded cash.

According to court records, 68-year-old John Martinez walked into a bank in north Denver on Tuesday morning wearing a T-shirt with the name “John” on the chest area. Investigators say witnesses recorded the robber’s license plate, which was registered to Martinez.

The Denver Post reports Martinez was arrested a few hours after the robbery, and police say he told them he was sharing a motel room with his wife after the two were evicted from their home.

He is being held without bail on an aggravated robbery charge.
