Water main break is a hassle for drivers

Austin Bluffs Parkway is getting more hectic for drivers in Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs Utilities said a construction worker nicked a water main. It happened when workers were putting in an electric line.

The break happened on Stanton Road yesterday (04/16/14). It forced the street to be closed today (04/17/14).

Kennyabel Rodriguez and Victoria Vossler are students at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. They said road work and the water main break made traffic a nightmare.

“It was slow moving. Cars were were switching lanes and trying to figure out how to get to the other lane because of construction. It was a mess,” Rodriguez said.

“It just causes more rush and panic. I already have to leave an hour before class starts to get (to UCCS) just cause of all the rush and craziness,” Vossler said.

Colorado Springs Utilities says construction workers should be done fixing the water main by tomorrow night (04/18/14).
