Girl Impaled In Pueblo West Bike Crash

A young girl was rushed to a hospital in Denver Tuesday night, after a freak bike accident that left her with horrific injuries.

According to reports from the scene, the 9-year-old girl was impaled on the goose neck of her bike (the part that holds the handlebars), dealing a massive blow to her chest.

Initial reports were that some portion of her heart was left partially protruding, but Sheriff’s deputies said late Tuesday that that was not the case.

Our news partners at the Pueblo Chieftain have learned that the girl was rushed to Parkview Medical Center before being flown to Children’s Hospital in Denver.

The incident happened about 7:30 p.m. near McCulloch Boulevard and Carrizo Springs Avenue.

The victim was able to make it to Katmandu’s convenience store to get help.

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office has not released any more specifics on the girl’s condition.
