New Road Work

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be chip sealing three highway segments in the Trinidad, Branson and Walsenburg areas over the next couple of weeks. Here is the announcement from CDOT: All work will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., with flaggers and a pilot car alternating traffic through the work zones. Delays up to 15 minutes should be expected at each location: ” Tuesday, May 15: U.S. 160, beginning at U.S. 350 – Beshoar Junction – and continuing east three miles (mile 350 – 353). ” Wednesday, May 16: State Highway 389, beginning about two miles north of the Colorado/New Mexico state line and continuing through and north of the town of Branson (mile 1.85 – 4). ” Monday, May 21: State Highway 10, beginning about 35 miles east of Walsenburg and continuing east two miles (mile 34.75 – 37.00). Upon completion of each resurfacing, sweepers will be operating on the highways each afternoon, cleaning any of the remaining small, loose rocks prevalent in chip seal resurfacing areas. Chip sealing is a preventative maintenance operation, extending a highway’s effective surface life three to five years. Motorists are reminded to please Slow for the Cone Zone, stay alert and pay attention to and obey all work zone/advisory signs and flaggers.
