Molotov Cocktail Thrown In Doherty Parking Lot

Police are trying to find out who threw a flammable device into the Doherty High School parking lot Thursday morning.

A staff member observed a fire in the vacant south east parking lot of the school around 5:00 a.m. The staff member ran into the school to get a fire extinguisher and, when he returned, the fire was out. There was no damage to any school property.

Investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a “Molotov Cocktail” device being thrown into the parking. A molotov cocktail is defined as a glass bottle containing some sort of flammable substance.

No suspects have been identified. Video surveillance of the school was obtained and was reviewed by law enforcement. Springs Police say the video didn’t provide any answers about who placed the device in the parking lot.
