Wildland Fire In Jefferson County Near Deckers

A wildland fire burning along highway 67 north of Deckers in Jefferson County has been contained.

Jefferson County sheriff’s Office predicted the fire would be 100 percent contained by 6:00 p.m.

The fire is in the area of the 6800 block of Highway 67 and is about 5 acres in size.

It was caused by a downed power line.

It is on U.S. Forest Service land.

The Forest Service requested assistance from several local fire agencies.

The fire has been named the Platte River fire.

People in the area were initially advised to evacuate if they feel unsafe. A deputy was going door-to-door delivering that message. There were no mandatory evacuations.
