Bullet Rips Through Bedroom

An investigation is underway after bullets rip through a home early Sunday morning in the 600 block of Circle Drive in Colorado Springs.

The gunshots were heard at 3:30 a.m. Sunday. A man woke up to find that a bullet had ripped through his wall and landed in his bedroom, just feet away from where he was sleeping.

?It’s pretty scary to be woken up and then you turn on the lights and you see bullet holes in your walls,? said Michael Johns, who has lived in the home for the last 12 years.

When police arrived they found that two 40-caliber bullets had ripped through Johns? home.

?This is where our bed is, just below this window,? said Johns as he demonstrated how close the bullet had come to the bed where he and his wife lay sleeping.

One bullet blasted through the bathroom wall. Two cars parked in the driveway were also hit, which could have saved his life.

?My truck was parked here,? said Johns, as he pointed to the driveway directly in front of his bedroom. ?So if my truck wasn’t there, one of us could have got hit in the head,? said Johns. ?Because that’s where our bed is.?

Johns said he hears gunshots often, especially in the summertime.

?They shoot around the block and up and down the street,? said Johns. ?But you never think it would happen to you.?

?I can’t believe we got shot,? said one of John?s grandsons, who was asleep inside when the bullets struck the home.

?They?re on Spring break so they hang around here,? said Johns.

Johns expressed concern that the shooters didn?t stop to think, ??What if I shoot into this house and hit a kid or something???

?That?s kind of scary,? said Johns.

Police say the shooting appears to be random, but they are still investigating.

No arrests have been made.
