1 Dead, 1 Seriously Hurt In Alamosa Crash

State troopers are investigating a crash in Alamosa that left one man dead and his passenger seriously hurt.

Officials say Ronald Aldridge, 44, was headed north on Highway 17 in his Dodge Dakota pickup at about 11;45 p.m. Thursdsay night. He was about four miles north of Alamosa when he veered off the side of the road and hit a tree, according to state troopers.

Aldridge was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, officials said. The state patrol said his passenger, Tammy Speckman, 36, was seriously hurt in the crash. Speckman was taken to the San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center and then flown to a Denver hospital, officials said.

Investigators said Aldridge was not speeding, but he was also not wearing a seatbelt Officials have not yet determined if drugs and alcohol is involved. The crash is under investigation.
