UPDATE: Mobile Home Standoff Over, Woman In Custody

The second standoff situation handled by Colorado Springs police on Tuesday had a safer ending than the first standoff, which resulted in a suspect’s death earlier.

Patricia Lafollette, 36, is in jail facing numerous charges. Police said she barricaded herself inside a residence just after 5 p.m. at the Meadows mobile home park near Powers and Astrozon Boulevards. Lafollette was armed with a rifle and a pistol, police said.

“A male who came out of the trailer indicated that his girlfriend had fired shots (inside) and threatened him,” said police Sgt. Steve Noblitt.

Noblitt said the couple had argued, and Lafollette refused to come out of the trailer for about two hours. Members of the SWAT team arrived and took positions around the home while police negotiated with Lafollette. Some nearby homes were evacuated.

Police said Lafollette finally surrendered just before 7:30 p.m. No one was injured, police said.

Michael Ford and Michelle Fleming were remodeling a home next door to the crime scene. They said they heard no gunfire, and were surprised to see police officers swarm into the area. The workers said they didn’t see Lafollette on Tuesday but had seen her occasionally before that.

“She was kind of stand-offish,” said Ford. “She just said, ‘hi.’ It’s hard to explain.”

“I didn’t speak to her at all,” said Fleming. “I did notice (Tuesday) that there were dark covers over the windows. It was weird, I thought. I didn’t notice them the other days.”

Police say Lafollette and her boyfriend were involved in a domestic dispute, but the exact motive for the gunfire is unclear. The case remains under investigation.

Police ask for anyone with information about the incident to call them at 719-444-7000.
